Finding the right macaron packaging can be one of the trickiest parts of starting a home bakery business (besides finding the perfect macaron recipe of course). Your macaron boxes can make or break your brand. It’s the first thing your customers see, and it needs to look professional and match the aesthetic of your business.
Don’t stress about finding the perfect macaron packaging when you’re first starting your home bakery business. But once you’re in the groove and know this is what you want to be doing for awhile, start brainstorming macaron packaging ideas and find some places you can buy in bulk.

What to Look For in a Macaron Box
- Price
- How much will each box cost you (including shipping costs)?
- Can you buy in bulk to get a lower price?
- How it looks
- Does it go well with your brand?
- Can you customize it?
- If you can’t afford custom packaging, consider getting a custom stamp of your logo made.
- Does it keep your macarons fresh and protected?
- Will the boxes protect your macarons from being damaged?
- Are there bags you can use inside the boxes to keep the macarons from tasting like other foods in the fridge at your customers home?
- Putting your macarons in a bag inside the box also keeps them tasting fresher longer.
- Are there bags you can use to individually wrap your macarons.
- If you have a box of macarons and peppermint (or another strong flavor) is included, you will need to individually wrap the peppermint macaron so the other flavors won’t taste like peppermint.
- Is the company you’re buying from good at keeping products in stock?
- If you’re running a business, you don’t want to constantly be worrying if your packaging will be out of stock. It’s important to do business with a company you trust.

When I first started my macaron business in 2014, I used these boxes to package macarons, and these bags for the inside. The bags kept the macarons fresher longer and prevented them from tasting like any other foods they might be stored next to in the fridge.
One of the mistakes I made when I first started my home bakery business, was not buying in bulk. A benefit of Papermart is that they allow you to save money when you buy in bulk.
What We Don’t Like
- Slow shipping times
- Products will often be out of stock for weeks at a time
- Somewhat expensive if you can’t buy in bulk
Slow shipping times and somewhat high prices can deter bakers from ordering here, but if you’re ready to buy in bulk, Papermart can be a good option for home bakers.
Who It’s For
Papermart is great for home bakers who are ready to buy in bulk and are ordering with plenty of time to spare. Some products go out of stock for weeks, but if you are buying in bulk and good at ordering ahead of time, Papermart is a good option for macaron packaging.

- 4 Pack Macaron Box Base and 4 Pack Macaron Box Cover: I liked these because they were simple, easy to assemble, and I could stamp them with my logo.
- 10 Pack Macaron Box Base and 10 Pack Macaron Box Cover: I could only fit 10 macarons in these, but if you have smaller macarons, you could probably fit 12. These macaron boxes were perfect for stamping my logo on the side and tying a matching ribbon on top.
- Bags for inside boxes of 4 macarons: I used these to keep my macarons fresher longer when they were in these 4 pack boxes.
- Clear self-sealing bags: I used these a lot. You can buy them in bulk and they do a great job of keeping the macarons fresh.
- Tip: the self adhesive strip’s wrapper will cling to EVERYTHING. I’m not kidding, you’ll be finding these little strips everywhere. To prevent this, we would lay down a piece of packing tape or duct tape and stick the wrappers on the tape to avoid them clinging to everything in sight.
- White gift bags: I stamped these with my logo and used them when customers ordered single macarons at the markets and pop up events.

Bakers who want a simple box that showcases their macarons. Good Natured has simple, clean packaging that shows off macarons and the designs on top. This is a good option if you’ve perfected your macarons and want to show off all parts of the macaron. These clear macaron boxes are also good if you have special designs on top of your macarons that you want to showcase.

What to Consider When Buying Macaron Packaging
- How Long You’ll Be In Business: If you just want to sell some macarons on the side for a couple months, buying lots of boxes in bulk won’t be the best idea. Choosing one of the options that offers small order sizes is a good way to ensure there’s not a lot of wasted packaging. But if you’re planning on turning your home bakery into your full time job, start buying bulk macaron boxes as soon as possible. It will save you money and prevent you from running out when things get busy.
- The Size of Your Macarons: Before you start buying macaron packaging, you need to measure your macarons. Even though a lot of these macaron boxes look like they’re the same size, they all vary. Measure your macarons, try to stay consistent with the size of your macarons, and look at the dimensions of all the different boxes.
